Sounds like you have a really noisy hobby
After explaining that a lot of my work is done with chain saws, grinders and sanders, people sometimes question weather all that noise making is actually relaxing. It is.
Once I put on my eye, ear and face protection, the world is dampened, my mind is focused, and the otherwise loud scream of my tools is now a muffled droning. The dull hum focuses my mind and quiets the rest of the world, kind of like a white noise machine. The vibrations and roar of the power tools is both exhilarating and relaxing. This type of task focusing, tunnel vision engages me beyond anything else.
In addition, there is always a time during the development of a piece that the tools go off and I sit quietly with hand tools to get the detail I am seeking. The relaxation and satisfaction comes as much from the process as it does from the product.
